It all begins with an idea.
The Schneider Foundation was established in 1989 by Henry S. and Jane R. Schneider. They were both graduates of Drury College, now Drury University. Henry went on to receive a master’s degree in Business Administration from Columbia University, studying under the direction of Benjamin Graham, after which he worked on Wall Street as a Market Analyst for Wertheim & Co., N.Y.S.E. Later he received a Chartered Financial Analysis (CFA) certification.
Married in 1952, Henry and Jane returned to Springfield a year later to start a family. Henry taught Economics at Drury College and tried his hand in retail sales, but his true interest was in trading securities. In 1960 he created Henry Schneider and Associates, a limited partnership. This continued until its dissolution in 1988.
With an initial investment of $200,000.00, the Schneider Foundation was born in 1989. The Foundation currently has assets of over $18 million and has awarded grants just shy of $7 million. Our focus is educational support for self-motivated, extraordinary children in pre-college programs in the greater Springfield, Missouri area.
