2022 Board Meeting

At the September 2022 annual Board of Directors meeting, The Schneider Foundation awarded eight grants totaling $400,000:

  • $200,000 - The Summit Preparatory School

  • $100,000 - Springfield Public School Foundation, International Baccalaureate Program

  • $50,000 - Drury University Summerscape and Leadership Program

  • $15,000 - The Salvation Army After-School Program

  • $10,000 - The Boys and Girls Club After-School Program

  • $10,000 - The Boy Scouts - Ozark Trails Council for Camp Arrowhead

  • $10,000 - The Springfield Symphony, Education Program

  • $5,000 - The Ozarks Science and Engineering Fair

With these gifts, The Schneider Foundation has now granted over $5.6 million dollars to Springfield area programs since 1989.

Henry S. Schneider, who has served as President since the inception of The Schneider Foundation, announced that he would not stand for reelection and recommended that his son, J. Michael Schneider, MD should be nominated for the position. By unanimous consent, the following officers and directors were elected to serve for the year ending September 30, 2023:

At the September 2021 annual Board of Directors meeting, The Schneider Foundation awarded eight grants totaling $400,000:

The President, Henry S. Schneider and the Directors acknowledged the death of prior board member Jane R. Schneider, on December 27, 2020. Jane had resigned her directorship in 2019, and her position will not be filled at this time.

2021 Board Meeting

The 2020 annual board meeting of The Schneider Foundation was held in August via Zoom due to Covid-19. Eight grants were awarded for a total of $350,000:

  • $150,000 - The Summit Preparatory School

  • $100,000 - Springfield Public School Foundation, International Baccalaureate Program

  • $50,000 - Drury University Summerscape and Leadership Program

  • $15,000 - The Salvation Army After-School Program

  • $10,000 - Boys and Girls Club After-School Program

  • $10,000 - Boy Scouts - Ozark Trail Council for Camp Arrowhead

  • $10,000 - The Springfield Symphony, Education Program

  • $5,000 - The Ozarks Science and Engineering Fair

2020 Board Meeting

At the August 2019 annual Board of Directors meeting, The Schneider Foundation awarded nine grants totaling $302,000:

  • $100,000 - The Summit Preparatory School

  • $100,000 - Springfield Public School Foundation, International Baccalaureate Program

  • $50,000 - Drury University Summerscape and Leadership Program

  • $15,000 - The Salvation Army After-School Program

  • $10,000 - Boys and Girls Club After-School Program

  • $10,000 - Boy Scouts - Ozark Trail Council for Camp Arrowhead

  • $10,000 - The Springfield Symphony, Education Program

  • $5,000 - The Ozarks Science and Engineering Fair

  • $2,000 - The Springfield Symphony, to partially underwrite the world premiere concert version of Oklahoma!

The Board recognized the death of board member R. Barnes “Barney” Whitlock on August 14, 2019, who had been on the board since the inception of The Schneider Foundation in 1989. Also, founding board member, Jane R. Schneider tendered her resignation, which was accepted with regret. Mr. Whitlock’s position on the board will be replaced by W. David Myers, CPA. Mrs. Schneider’s position will be left vacant for the time being.

2024 Annual Board Meeting

At the June 2024 annual Board of Directors meeting, The Schneider Foundation awarded eight grants totaling $690,000.00:

  • $270,000 – Foundation for Springfield Public Schools, International Baccalaureate Program

  • $265,000 – The Summit Preparatory School

  • $65,000 – Drury University Center for Gifted Education Summerscape and Leadership Academy

  • $25,000 – Boys and Girls Clubs of Springfield After-School Program

  • $25,000 – Springfield Symphony Orchestra for Young People Concert and Ensembles in School Program

  • $20,000 – The Ozark Science and Engineering Fair

  • $15,000 – The Boy Scouts – Ozark Trails Council for Camp Arrowhead

  • $5,000 – The Springfield Youth Symphony c/o The Foundation of Springfield Public Schools

With these gifts, The Schneider Foundation how now granted just shy of $7 million dollars to Springfield area programs since 1989.

The Board recognized the retirement of board member James (Jim) B. Johnson on June 12, 2024, who faithfully served on the board for over 30 years. Mr. Johnson’s position on the board will be replaced by James Lea. Mrs. Jane R. Schneider’s position will be replaced by Anna C. Schneider.

The next scheduled meeting of the board will occur in February, 2025.

2023 Annual Board Meeting

At the June 2023 annual Board of Directors meeting, The Schneider Foundation awarded nine grants totaling $525,000.00:

  • $200,000 – The Summit Preparatory School

  • $175,000 – Foundation for Springfield Public Schools, International Baccalaureate Program

  • $50,000 – Drury University Center for Gifted Education Summerscape and Leadership Academy

  • $25,000 – Boys and Girls Clubs of Springfield After-School Program

  • $25,000 – Springfield Symphony Orchestra for Young People Concert and Ensembles in School Program

  • $20,000 – The Salvation Army After-School Program

  • $15,000 – The Boy Scouts – Ozark Trails Council for Camp Arrowhead

  • $10,000 – The Ozark Science and Engineering Fair

  • $5,000 – The Springfield Youth Symphony c/o The Foundation of Springfield Public Schools

With these gifts, The Schneider Foundation how now granted over $6.1 million dollars to Springfield area programs since 1989.

2023 February Semi-Annual Board Meeting

At the semi-annual Board of Directors Meeting of The Schneider Foundation on February 22, 2023, the following items were discussed:

  • Website creation and content

  • Logo for The Schneider Foundation

  • Link on the website to the Foundation’s IRS form 990

  • A report from the Fiduciary Committee

  • The creation of an Advisory Board.  All grandchildren of Henry & Jane Schneider are eligible to participate should they so wish.  These are non-voting positions:

  • Larger grants made by the Foundation will be distributed to the grant recipients in more formal presentations and be handled by the President and other officers as available.
